Snap-Ring™ Filter Bags
Snap-Ring filter bags are designed for use with bag filter housings. Snap-Ring filter bags are the "economy" choice for basic liquid filtering applications to a nominal 65% to 70% level of efficiency. As the filter bag model/design improves, the material it is made from become thicker and the sealing method becomes more efficient. Snap-Ring filter bags utilize a sewn construction and are made from virgin materials.
Snap-Ring filter bags seal the bag to the internal restrainer (support) basket via a metal or plastic "snap-ring". Generally speaking Snap-Ring filter bags should be used when the particle retention level is >25 microns and for applications that do not have much particle loading.

UniBag™ Filter BagsUniBag filter bags are designed for use with bag filter housings. UniBag filter bags are considered to be a slight improvement over Snap-Ring filter bags and as such are also considered an "economy" choice for basic filtering applications to a nominal 65% to 70% level of efficiency. As the filter bag model/design improves, the material it is made from become thicker and the sealing method becomes more efficient. As with the Snap-Ring filter bags, UniBag filter bags are made with a sewn construction, although unlike Snap-Ring filter bags, UniBag filter bags are made from recycled fibers.
What makes the UniBag filter bags an improvement over Snap-Ring style filter bags is the sealing method. UniBag filter bags have a crush seal design per the higher quality Sentinel, DURAGAF, LOFCLEAR, ACCUGAF and PROGAF filter bags. Unlike the snap-ring closure, the Sentinel™ style crush ring seal has larger contact area against the restrainer (support) basket. Downwards pressure from a separate sealing ring or from the bag filter lid (goose neck style bag filters) creates a bypass free seal and is therefore recommended for all applications, especially when the desired retention is <= 25 microns. |

Sentinel™ Filter Bags
Sentinel filter bags are the industry standard "every day" filter bags for industrial applications. Unlike less expensive Snap-Ring and UniBag filter bags are made from a heavier material and are all made from a fully welded construction. The heavier material provides slightly more depth filtration, essentially a torturous path for the fluid and particles to navigate; the particles are retained and the liquid passes through.
The fully welded design increases the strength of the filter bag. The restrainer (support) basket relieves most of the weight stress from the filter bag, however the differential pressure stress will usually cause sewn seams to burst before welded seems would.
Sentinel filter bags are made in the widest number of materials and retentions and their universal #1 through #4 sizes will fit any brand of bag filter designed for #1 through #4 sizes. Sentinel filter bags also provide nominal retention efficiencies of 65% to 70%. |

DURAGAF™ Filter Bags
DURAGAF filter bags are a premium filter bag. It is still manufactured from nominally 65-70% efficient materials as are the Snap-Ring, UniBag and Sentinel™ filter bags, however it is made from a heavier, fully welded material. We also offer some versions that satisfy certain FDA requirements.
DURAGAF filter bags will cost, on average, about 3 times as much as Sentinel filter bags, HOWEVER they have a particle loading capacity up to 5 times as much. Essentially, you should replace DURAGAF filter bags less frequently than Snap-Ring, UniBag and Sentinel filter bags.
Overall DURAGAF filter bags should reduce the labor related to bag changes and disposal costs because you'll use fewer per month. When you combine the labor savings and disposal savings with the reduced quantity on an annual basis, DURAGAF filter bags should reduce your costs and your "environmental footprint" due to less material to dispose of.
Any time we receive an application for nominal retentions <= 25 microns, we default to DURAGAF filter bags because it's really the best value; unfortunately it's not always readily apparent what the additional reduced operating costs amount to, so they aren't uses as frequently as they should be.

LOFCLEAR™ Filter Bags
LOFCLEAR filter bags are a specialized, premium filter bag. LOFCLEAR filter bags are designed to have "absolute", 99% efficiencies. There are multiple styles available, some are pleated to increase the available surface area and others are made from a denser material with the specific intent of trapping gelatinous particles as well as traces of silicon oils which negatively effect coating applications (especially in the automotive industry).
LOFCLEAR filter bags are specialized and not typically applied to applications other than final coating applications. We've created a separate website called http://www.eatonfilterbags.com to provide all of the information you would ever want to know about any of the filter bags we offer. The link to the LOFCLEAR filter bag page is online at http://www.eatonfilterbags.com/lofclear.html.

ACCUGAF™ Filter Bags
ACCUGAF filter bags are a special high performance, multi-layer filter bag design. The multiple layers significantly increases the total available surface area to create a long-lasting high retention efficiency filter bag.
ACCUGAF filter bags are chosen for everyday liquid filtration applications where standard 65-70% nominal retention efficiencies aren't sufficient.

PROGAF™ Filter Bags
PROGAF filter bags are the epitome of high efficiency filter bag design, it sets the standards for all other in terms of particle loading and retention efficiencies. PROGAF filter bags are often used to replace specialized filter cartridges due to higher flow rate requirements or simply to reduce operating costs.
Akin to the ACCUGAF filter bags, PROGAF filter bags also have a multiple layer construction; they have more layers and a special, patented sealing ring referred to as a STEP-RING, whose sealing against the restrainer (support) basket actually improves with increased differential pressure!
PROGAF filter bags are used for critical filtration applications, often related to pharmaceutical, biotech, fine chemical and potable water/beverage applications.

LOFCLEAR™ High Efficiency Filter Bags for Paint, Oil and Gel particles
The FAI Filtration Absorption Insert is the ultimate solution for increasing the oil and dirt removal capacity of new and existing bag filter systems. The insert is made entirely of polypropylene meltblown filter media, spun bound cover, and an extruded core for extra support.
During the field testing, FAI inserts retained up to 4 lbs of particles. The same test was repeated with oil, and the insert showed the same absorption capability, approximately 4 lbs of oil. Its ability to capture high volumes of oil and particulate matter makes the insert ideal for many applications.
Applications include but are not limited to: E-coat and pretreatment filtration for minimizing surface contaminating oil Metal cleaning applications that require oil and particle removal Paint, coatings and other liquids with a high content of gelatinous particles, which cannot be removed by regular felt bags Applications with high dirt load that would require frequent filter bag change without the insert
For existing applications, the insert can be installed in most standard size 02 filter bags having the SNAP-RING® or SENTINEL® ring collar. The retrofitting feature enables the customer to continue to use the existing filter bags.
Once the insert is installed, use of a 316 Stainless Steel Charging Ring is necessary to protect the structural integrity of the insert. This ring directs the flow into the center of the insert thus maximizing the time of contact between liquid and active media.
For easier installation and removal of the bag-insert assembly, the use of a straight-sided perforated plate basket (without the indent) is highly recommended.
